ICE Dragon Corrosion Inc. specializes in the design of corrosion protection systems and the development of Corrosion Management Plans (CMPs) for multi-sector clients.

ICE was founded in 2016; we care about people, diversity of thought, excellence, purpose-driven work and have a can-do spirit. We are frequently on-site with hands-on assessments to diagnose concerns both at the physical asset and enterprise level. We work closely with our client teams, so they can strategically adopt corrosion best practices and technology to reduce the associated business risks in their operations.

Corrosion Field Technician - Victoria B.C.

ICE is currently looking for a Corrosion Field Technician for a full-time position:

Victoria, BC, Canada (Position ref: 2024-06-CR2)

You will be implementing a Corrosion Field Support program for a long-standing ICE client with full support from our central team in Ottawa. Home base for these roles will be onsite with our client with occasional travel to Ottawa / Toronto as required. Your mandate will include the following:

You will be able to introduce the program and your role to the many field stakeholders and ramp up the uptake of the program services.

You will have an authoritative, confident, approachable and friendly demeanor with ability to communicate effectively and frequently with all types of people (from leadership to field personnel).

You will be able to quickly build rapport and trust with many stakeholders in a complex organizational structure.

Your actions and positive attitude will support a proactive maintenance culture through coaching and oversight.

You will be well-organized, have excellent follow-through and accountability, solid time management and able to accurately follow processes and provide reliable reporting.

You prefer to be in the field for most of the workday, being physically active, working shoulder to shoulder with the client teams on practical activities (time split will be approx. 80% field vs. 20% office/reporting).

You are supportive, collaborative, helpful, responsive, friendly, can-do / no nonsense attitude.

You have the confidence to work autonomously but know when to ask for help and pull in your wider team.

You will provide onsite support to client in the field for corrosion audits, husbandry maintenance items, and common defect issues.

You will support the client with practical corrosion, painting and husbandry knowledge and coaching on basic maintenance tasks (training will also be provided).

You will be the link between the site and the central Corrosion Program, communicating data and feedback and requests with the Program Coordinator.

Qualifications and requirements for position

Minimum of a technician level background or technical degree / diploma in corrosion or related subject.

Related AMPP coating inspector qualifications strongly preferred (AMPP CIP Level 1 / 2, AMPP CP 2, other).

Position will require field experience (reliability, condition monitoring, NDT, inspections, coating inspection).

Strong project management of multiple, concurrent activities and stakeholder requirements.

Mature, professional with strong verbal communication and coaching skills. Fluent English required. French an asset.

Ability to rapidly gain knowledge as training is provided and program requirements evolve.

Base wage will depend on experience. A 10% bonus will be offered based on the annual performance of the company and your personal performance. Intermediate Corrosion Engineer /Asset Integrity Specialist

ICE needs an Intermediate Corrosion Engineer /Asset Integrity Specialist for a full-time position!

You will have an excellent university background in materials/corrosion or related discipline and at least 3+ years of experience in a related field. Work experience that is client-facing with significant operational in-field experience is considered a benefit. Preference will be given to applicants who have been involved with Corrosion Management Programs or Asset Integrity/Management Programs.

You will be a core member of a long-term client project support team. You will provide project management support to corrosion projects; you will support the development and implementation of corrosion management activities onsite; you will provide technical input into multiple technical projects, including but not limited to coating selection/specifications, material selection, failure analysis, designing and undertaking inspections and analyzing corrosion data. Corrosion training will be provided for strong candidates who require it.

You are comfortable with multi-tasking, project management, task prioritization and have disciplined self-management. You will confidently communicate and collaborate with client teams and carry out site work at client locations as required. You enjoy working with different people and want to learn and pass on your knowledge to team members and clients. You have strong English language skills.

Conversational level French is a benefit for this role; language training may be provided for strong candidates who wish to learn. You carry out high quality, timely report writing and can present findings to any level of stakeholder. Home base will be at the ICE office in Toronto where you will be expected in the office a minimum of 3 days a week. Frequent travel and fly-in / fly-out rotation shifts at our client site are expected in this role (up to 50% of your time).

Base wage will depend on experience and a 10% discretionary bonus will be offered based on your performance and the annual performance of the company. We offer health benefits, flexible work arrangements, additional PTO and high levels of autonomy.
